With the removal of the relatively modern annex on the west side of the Carriage House, little original material remains, except for the large dormer.  A complete reconstruction will be required on this side. A combination of physical, structural evidence plus the two photographs below provides suggestion as to what this side of the building might have looked like before the multiple additions to the West.  The architects are proposing Victorian style windows in the positions which they appear to have had in the historic photos.  Siding and beltcourses reproduce patterns on other sides of the building.

The photo at the left is the best evidence available as to window type and position on the West Elevation, albeit very incomplete.  It also provides a very clear depiction of the cupola, which provided both ornament and ventilation for the original building.  The historic view on the right, a much enlarged view taken from the West Hills around 1910, confirms the window pattern across both sides of this elevation.
