Opus Northwest, LLC

Opus Northwest, LLC is headquartered in Minneapolis, with offices in Denver, Kansas City, Mo., Portland, Ore., Seattle and St. Louis.  The division is one of five regional companies within The Opus Group. Opus Northwest has developed more than 83 million square feet and currently has 8.9 million square feet in planning or under development. A community steward since its inception, The Opus Group is committed to the long-term development of people and communities by contributing 10 percent of its pre-tax profits to community organizations.

Opus NW was engaged by First Christian Church to develop its full block of land between Park and Broadway and Columbia and Jefferson Streets.  The original plan was for a condominium tower on one end of the block, with some Church offices in the base structure, and a Fellowship Hall for the Church on the current site of the Carriage House and a part of the Rose Friend Apartments, necessitating either the demolition or relocation of the Ladd Carriage House.  Opus NW is the builder and developer of the luxury Ladd apartments which will occupy the 1/2 block immediately to the north of the Ladd Carriage House.

Though a Minneapolis-based firm, Opus NW was eager to live up to its goals of being a good community citizen in Portland.  When the Friends of Ladd Carriage House and other concerned citizens and local officials protested the potential destruction of the Carriage House, Opus NW and their development partners Carroll Investments Company took another look at their design and crafted an innovative solution.  Opus NW, as owners of the Ladd Carriage House, has undertaken the substantial costs of moving the building to and from temporary storage and the initial rehabilitation.  When the residential tower was reconfigured from condominiums to apartments, Carroll Investments withdrew from the project, and it is currently being developed exclusively by Opus NW.
