Buying the Ladd Carriage House

The architects have proposed a design for a professional office space.  This concept could be adapted to a number of other possible uses, including exhibit or gallery space.  An early concept of using the building for a high-end restaurant was discarded due to the loss of space for kitchen and service areas, and the resulting building code issues.
One of the Carriage House's most notable interior features is its magnificent heavy timber truss roof structure.  In this plan for the second floor, more than 2/3rds of the second floor is open all the way up to this wonderful timber truss roof structure.  The potential use of the third floor (which is above the area at the east end of the building - at right - above the proposed conference room) remains an issue that will likely only be resolved when an owner is found.
