Restoration Plans
Future Challenges

Once the Carriage House is moved back to its original site, restoration will begin to make it the jewel in the crown of the Ladd Tower development.  The actual restoration work will be influenced by the ultimate purchaser/occupant of the building, but in anticipation of what is going to be possible, Opus NW engaged Carleton Hart Architects to develop a restoration plan for the building.  This restoration plan was intended to meet several requirements:

  • Return the building to its original appearance to the extent practical considering modern codes and the projected uses of the building and the best historic information available
  • Reflect best understanding of the historic record that has been pieced together by the Friends of the Ladd Carriage House and others relative to the original appearance
  • Provide flexibility relative to the ultimate use of the building, but design for use of the LCH as high quality professional office space
